| The Concept |
What are poetrywars? Poetrywars is a little different from your average contest. Instead of letting a select, small group of individuals decide the winners, we let the general public vote on them. We do that by setting up a page with two poems on it and letting everyone decide who moves on to the next round. After a few rounds of competition, the contest winner is decided by the person with the most votes in the final round. Back to top |
| Contest Entry |
How do I register an account? On the top right part of the main page, you'll see a link that says 'Register.' Click on that link and fill in the necessary fields to complete your profile.
When you're done with that, you'll have to login using your new username and password to post messages on this site. Back to top |
I'm getting an error message when I register! If you get an error message that says you've had too many registration attempts, wait about 30 minutes before you try to register again. This happens whenever you try to register more than 5 times unsuccessfully.
If you have any other problems with the registration, you can contact the administrator of this site by going to the front page and clicking on the contact link. Back to top |

Do I retain the rights to my poem? Yes, you do. You retain full rights to your poem. It may not be recreated or reused without your written concent. Back to top |
When does the contest start/end? The contest officially begins once all the necessary poets have entered to fill the contest. Once the contest is filled, the exact dates for each of the rounds will be posted and all the polls will be setup for the voting to begin.
Is there a minimum amount of posts to enter? No, anyone can enter the contest. You just have to register an account and find the appropriate place to post your poem. Back to top |

Themed contests will be announced in advance with the details of that contest and the amount of poems needed. Back to top |
Are there any fees? No, use of this site is completely free of charge. Back to top |

Just keep in mind that it can only be submitted to one active contest at a time. And make sure to look your poem over for any errors before resubmission. Back to top |
| Voting |
How do I vote? Once the contest is filled, look in each thread for a poet's name. You should see it at the top of the thread (along with the name of their poem). Beneath each person's name is a button used to vote for that person. Once you vote for the person you want, you should see the results from those polls immediately after you vote.
Each poet is allowed to vote for themself throughout the contest, once in each round. Politicians vote for themselves. This is no different. Back to top |
Can I vote for myself? Yes, voting for yourself is perfectly within the rules. You may vote for yourself once in each round that you're in. Back to top |
When does each round begin and end? The voting begins once all poets have entered the contest. After that, the voting polls will be setup in each thread and the contest will officially begin.
Each round ends at midnight (EST). For more details, check the Contest Schedule forum. Back to top |
